Errol Flynn (Errol Leslie Thomson Flynn, June 1909 – October 1959) did not have any acting role in the 1947 historical adventure film "Captain from Castile", released by 20th Century Fox and directed by Henry King. Flynn at the time was an Australian-American actor who was considered the natural successor to the actor Douglas Fairbanks. He was able to achieve worldwide fame during the Golden Age of Hollywood.

The film "Captain from Castile" is an adaptation of the 1945 best-selling novel "Captain from Castile" by Samuel Shellabarger. The film's story covers the first half of the historical epic, describing the protagonist's persecution at the hands of the Spanish Inquisition and his escape to the New World to join Hernán Cortés in an expedition to conquer Mexico.

The technicolor film was produced by Lamar Trotti and Darryl F. Zanuck. Its screenplay was also written by Trotti. It was shot on location in Michoacán, Mexico. It stars Tyrone Power, Jean Peters, and Cesar Romero. It was the feature film debut of Jean Peters, who later married industrialist Howard Hughes. In addition, the actor from Canada's Six Nation's Reserve, Jay Silverheels, who portrayed Tonto on the TV series "The Lone Ranger" was featured as a member of the cast.

With many movie fans, "Captain from Castile" was a theatrical success. But the film failed to recoup its (at the time) enormous production cost of 4.5 million US dollars.
