How long can a macaw live?

Recognisable by their brightly covered feathers, macaws are members of the parrot family. They have a long lifespan and, in the right environment, will live to be 60 to 80 years old. There are at home in the rainforests and feed on a mix of nuts and seeds. Unfortunately, though, the majority of these beautiful birds are endangered in the wild and a few are already extinct due to habitat degradation and the illegal pet trade. The Dominican Green-and-Yellow Macaw or Atwood’s Macaw also called the Dominican Macaw, is extinct.

Healthy Macaw parrots live an average of 50 years. But they have been known to live up to 100 years.

Deceptive question. Should have clarified whether it was in captivity or in the wild.

The question asks how long a macaw CAN live - not the average or if in the wild or captivity. The longest recorded is 112 years which should be the answer.

Question does not specify the type of macaw, whether it is in capitiviy or wild,...normally about 50 years, so the option 40-60 would be correct. Good grief.

Macaws. Large parrots like Macaws are among the longest living parrot species. Healthy Macaw parrots live an average of 50 years. But they have been known to live up to 100 years! The oldest pet macaw was reported to have lived 112 years.
