How long did Moses stay in the wilderness?
Moses is known as an Abrahamic prophet. He was a great emancipator of the Jewish people from Egypt's oppression. He was the one to deliver the Ten Commandments to the Human race and to teach them God's mercy and justice. He was the one to whom God talked. But because of his beliefs and deeds for his nation Moses was doomed to 40 years of vagrancy in the wilderness.
He never saw the Promised Land; he never knew the delight of harmony and peace. After 40 years spent in the desert, Moses died in loneliness. For sure, his sacrifice was not forgotten. Now even children know the story of his loyalty and manhood, while his name is eternalized not only in minds of the Jewish people, whose ancestors were saved by Moses' sacrifice (Judaism), but also in such prevalent religions as Christianity and Islam.

Moses was not sentenced to 40 years in the wilderness, the people were for their disobedience. Moses stood in the gap for the Isrealites as they angered God because of their unfaithfulness and disobedience. The trip was supposed to be for 40 days but instead was 40 years due to disobedience which is pretty much what we are witnessing in our society today and of course there is always consequences since mankind wants to do what is right in his own eyes instead of following the ways of our Creator God. Also the reason why Moses never entered the promise land was because he hit the rock in anger where the water poured out from and this displeased God.

I think it's a REAL good idea to follow the advice of the wise: Keep politics and religion out of this forum. Making quiz questions that presume to define aspects of the infinite as indisputable fact is both arrogant and parochial. Even the word 'God,' while universally used, is open to endless debate: Some have the image of an old man with a white beard sitting on a cloud while others refer to 'It' as the Great Nothingness; others, as the One and All; and still others as the magical swirl of the physiochemical universe. Any dogma slung at me gets my goat, and this does not mean I am not deeply spiritual. Have respect for the beauty of diversity of thought in the world and keep your religious beliefs to yourself. I guess when it gets down to it, the 'God' in which I believe is so much greater than waving the American flag, thumping the Bible in self-righteous ignation, and flogging the 'God'-speak lingo as if any verbalizations can ever come close, let alone swing from a pickup truck's rearview mirror. Teo Sinclair, the Bible is a book. Whether you believe it or not doesn’t really matter. The question doesn’t ask that. It merely asks how long Moses stayed in the wilderness. It’s like asking something about a character in any other type of book that you may or may not have read, or movie or song for that matter. It’s no worse than asking some statistic about sports, who the coach was or who directed a movie or what character an actor played in it. No one was slinging dogma at you specifically or at anyone else. The Bible is what some people believe. It’s not what every one believes. Try and be a little more tolerant and open minded about things, you might not get your knickers in a knot so much!

I object to having Judeo-Christian mythology stated as fact.There is no more actual evidence for the existence of the Ten Commandments than there is for the Trojan horse. The Bible should be cited as the source of the story of the Ten Commandments just like the Aeneid would be cited as the source for the story of the Trojan horse. Furthermore, there is no more evidence that Moses actually existed than there is for Achilles.

Everyone should check their sources for references, it never happened because Egypt never had Jewish slaves. It doesn’t matter if you’re into Judaism, Christianity, or Islam, you’re all wrong for believing in any such thing as god or gods. They don’t and never have existed.
