How many faces are there in a single die?

Dice are small throwable objects with multiple resting positions, used for generating random numbers in different gambling and social games. As dice have been around since antiquity, they are widely considered the oldest gaming instruments on the planet. They are still very popular and used in different situations, from major card game tournaments to "flipping a nickel" in small companies of friends.

A traditional die is a cube, with each of its six faces showing a different number of dots (pips) from 1 to 6. When thrown or rolled, the die comes to rest showing on its upper surface a random integer from one to six, each value being equally likely.
