No reference was made to the original Ocean's 11 movie from around 1960.

Since the first of the George Clooney versions is a remake of Frank Sinatra's Rat Pack version and is an homage to it, it is arguably the second in the series and therefore the correct number would be 11. The question should be clear that it is referencing the Clooney versions.

Bob Gorby, oceans 11 with Clooney is a remake of the original. So the first is 11, then 12 etc.
