How many moons do the planets in our solar system have?

The 8 planets in our solar system have 166 moons. Neither Mercury nor Venus have any moons. Our home, the Earth, has 1 moon. Mars has 2 moons. Mighty Jupiter has 63 known moons. Saturn has 60 moons. Uranus has 27 and Neptune has all of 13 moons. So the total number of known moons orbiting the 8 planets is 166. However, some people believe that astronomers will discover more moons hidden around the planets.

So wrong on so many levels. This is from NASA: Planets and asteroids in our solar system orbit the Sun. Moons — also known as natural satellites — orbit planets and asteroids. There are more than 200 moons in our solar system.

This is an OLD question! There are over two hundred moons in our Solar System with Saturn 🪐 being the ‘King of Moons’ with over 80.

It would appear that problems with this question depend on whether you only count confirmed moons or also include provisional moons. The question should also have asked the number at a particular date. I just checked NASA and discovered that recently another moon was discovered orbitting earth!

Naked Kitty Slave, the question asked how many moons do PLANETS in our solar system have. So that does not include asteroid moons.

Well, I know that Saturn alone has about 60 moons, so 166 was the only option. A better answer choice would have been 166+ since there are more moons orbiting other celestial bodies as was pointed out by another person.
