How many US states border the Gulf of Mexico?

If you look at a map, you will notice that only five of the 50 states border the Gulf. Can you name those states? If you live in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, or Texas, you can easily list them and you can also see how human activities may affect the Gulf. The thing is that the Northern part of it is heavily polluted with chemicals and oil.

Well for you, who appears to live in Florida, of course this question is easy. For others, it is not. It isn't just Americans who reply to these questions - for instance I am Scottish (and yes, I happened to know the answer was five). Can you answer how many countries border the North Sea without consulting a map? And even if you can, imagine how many people cannot. Remember: what is easy to one person may be difficult to another.

Especially when you consider the Deepwater Horizon Oil Disaster happened over ten years ago. Oil spills can be cleaned up, and BP was held responsible!
