In 2001 the city of Liverpool named its airport after which person?
This international airport is named after Liverpudlian musician John Lennon of The Beatles. It has numerous domestic services and scheduled flights to locations across many other countries. Inside of the building you will find a 7 ft bronze statue of the local icon who stands proudly to overlook the check-in hall. The airport's motto is a line from Lennon's song "Imagine": "Above us, only sky". Today it's one of the busiest airports in the United Kingdom.

Someone mentioned that there is no monument,( airport or otherwise ) dedicated to Sir Paul. Just wait until Paul expires , there will be an outpouring of grief all over the world , even generations that were not even alive during his tenure as a Beatle. I’m in San Francisco,a city run by young millennials , yet all are aware of the Beatles . The thing is ,to say you’re not a Beatles fan is fine, but it also implies you never listened to their entire canon of I believe something like 220 to 230 songs with Lennon-McCartney as songwriters , and that is not even including George’s songs I believe . Sir Paul is possibly the most recognized face on Earth .
