Ian Joseph Harvey (born 10 April 1972) is a former Australian cricketer. He was an all-rounder who played 73 One Day Internationals for Australia and was named as one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year for 2004 for his performances in county cricket.

Harvey played for Gloucestershire from 1999 to 2003 in the English County Championship and domestic one-day competitions. He was an integral part of the team that won a number of one-day trophies, including four one-day finals in a row. Harvey also scored the first Twenty20 cricket century in 2003 and scored three T20 centuries in all. In 2004 he switched counties to play for Yorkshire for whom he played until 2005.

Chris Gayle The first century in a T20I match was scored by Chris Gayle of the West Indies who made 117 against South Africa at the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 in 2007.

I guess everyone, including me, was caught out by the fact the question didn't ask for first international T20 century, just the first one per se, which in this case, was an English tournament that preceded the introduction of the international one.

The first ever T20 century was scored by Ian Harvey in the match between Warwickshire and Gloucestershire. The first century in a T20 International match was scored by Chris Gayle. This happened after Ian Harvey's century.

Like many (maybe most) I assumed international cricket, so went for Chris Gayle. However, rereading the question I note that it did NOT mention International, so again, like most, I stuffed up.
