"The Bionic Woman" is an 1976 American television series based on the 1972 novel "Cyborg" by Martin Caidin, starring Lindsay Wagner. The series ran for three seasons. It is a spin-off from the 1970s "Six Million Dollar Man" television series.

Wagner stars as professional tennis player Jaime Sommers, who becomes critically injured during a skydiving accident. Her life is saved by Oscar Goldman (Richard Anderson) and Dr. Rudy Wells (Martin E. Brooks) with bionic surgical implants similar to those of "The Six Million Dollar Man" Steve Austin (Lee Majors). Through the use of cybernetic implants, known as bionics, Jaime is fitted with an amplified bionic right ear, a bionic right arm and both legs. She is then assigned to secret missions as an agent of the Office of Scientific Intelligence, while in her regular life she is a teacher.

In season three Maximillian, or simply "Max", is a bionic German Shepherd dog. He is a recurring character in the third and final season. Max was donated for laboratory use at the age of four months and was critically injured in a lab fire. At a time when Dr. Rudy Wells needed to test his bionic prototype, Max was the strong-willed animal he was looking for. Max had four bionic legs and a bionic jaw. Max was intended to lead into a spin off series that didn't happen.

The series was popular worldwide, with high ratings in the US and the UK, where it became the only science fiction program to achieve the No.1 position during the 20th century.
