In "Shrek the Musical", who is revealed as Lord Farquaad's father?
Lord Maximus Farquaad, or Lord Farquaad, or simply just Farquaad, is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Fairy Godmother) of the "Shrek" franchise, serving as the main antagonist of "Shrek", and a posthumous antagonist of its four sequels. He was the tyrannical and ruthless ruler of Duloc.
In "Shrek the Musical", Farquaad's past is revealed during the musical number "The Ballad of Farquaad". Farquaad's mother was revealed to be a Princess named Pea from the Princess and the Pea and his father being Grumpy (which explains his comically short stature). He is based on Grumpy from Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
In the musical, it was revealed that he married Princess Pea of Duloc, who left her throne to marry him. They eventually had a son which they named Farquaad. Sometime during Farquaad's early childhood, Pea died when she fell from the top mattress of their bed, leaving Grumpy to raise Farquaad.
Farquaad claimed that his father had abandoned him in the woods as a child. However, when the fairytale characters brought Grumpy to his son's wedding, he reveals that he kicked Farquaad out because he was twenty-eight years old and living in his basement.
