The Bible Story of the Battle of Jericho is found in the book of Joshua, chapter six.

Joshua is the central figure in the Hebrew Bible's Book of Joshua. According to the books of Exodus, Numbers and Joshua, he was Moses' assistant and became the leader of the Israelite tribes after the death of Moses.

According to the Book of Joshua, the waters of the Jordan River parted, as they had for Moses at the Red Sea. The first battle after the crossing of the Jordan was the Battle of Jericho. Joshua then led the destruction of Jericho.

Many archaeologists have struggled to find evidence of a historical battle at Jericho at the time the story takes place in the Bible. They discovered that a series of earthquakes swept through where Jericho stood, around 1250 BC, and certainly brought walls crumbling down. However, the dates don't match with the time Joshua was supposedly conquering the land.
