Eldred Gregory Peck, aka Gregory Peck (April 1916 – June 2003), was an American actor. He was a very popular film stars during the 1940s to the 1960s. During his career, Peck received five nominations for Academy Award for Best Actor. He won one time for his performance as Atticus Finch in the 1962 drama film "To Kill a Mockingbird". Peck's other Oscar-nominated roles concern performances in "The Keys of the Kingdom" (1944), "The Yearling" (1946), "Gentleman's Agreement" (1947), and "Twelve O'Clock High" (1949).
In 1969, U.S. President Lyndon Johnson honored Peck with the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his lifetime humanitarian efforts. In 1999, the American Film Institute named Peck among Greatest Male Stars of Classic Hollywood cinema. At the age of 87, Peck died in Los Angeles, California, U.S. in his sleep from bronchopneumonia.
