"Cluedo" ("Clue" in North America), is a murder mystery game for three to six players that was devised in 1943 and first manufactured by Waddingtons in the UK in 1949. Since then, it has been relaunched and updated several times, and it is currently owned and published by the American game and toy company Hasbro. Hasbro produced a unified game across markets worldwide, but this was then modified with regional differences in names and spelling.

Until recently the standard edition of the game used to come with six basic tokens representing the following six original characters:

1 Miss Scarlett (Miss Scarlet in North American versions after 1963), represented by a red token

2 Professor Plum, represented by a purple token

3 Mrs Peacock, represented by a blue token

4 Reverend Green (Mr Green in North American versions), represented by a green token

5 Colonel Mustard, represented by a yellow token

6 Mrs White, represented by a white token

In July 2016 Hasbro announced there would be an important change: Mrs White would be replaced by a new character in future editions of the game. So, from then on, the game came with the old stalwarts 1 to 5, as before, but now with the updated sixth character:

6 Dr Orchid, represented by an orchid pink token.
