The pilot episode of MASH, airing on September 17, 1972, opens with a montage of scenes featuring Trapper and Hawkeye hitting golf balls, Col. Blake and a nurse opening a bottle of champagne, Father Mulcahy napping outside a tent, Hotlips and Frank sitting at a table reading while playing "footsies" under the table, and Radar catching a football. The very first scene is Trapper placing his ball on the tee and hitting a driver as the words "Korea, 1950" with "a hundred years ago" shown underneath appear on the screen. The scene then goes back to Col. Blake and the nurse as the cork pops and, finally, Trapper standing over another teed ball. As he hits his driver, the ball strikes a landmine and explodes. Trapper leans forward and yells, "Fore!" as the first word of dialog spoken. Radar is then shown catching the football again, and looking up toward the sky calling out, "Here they come!" Someone says, "I don't hear nothing." To which he replies, "Wait for it," and we then see the camera shot that will be incorporated into the opening of the show.
