In the TV series "Xena: Warrior Princess" (1995-2001), one of the real stars of the show was Xena's faithful steed Argo. Argo carried the warrior princess throughout ancient Greece taking part in wild, outlandish adventures. Argo was a Palomino colored horse and was extremely well-trained, always responding to Xena's whistling. Argo clearly understood everything Xena asked her to do.

Argo was played by several lovely palominos between the ages of 10 and 14. The primary Argo was played by a horse named Tilly. According to several popular magazines, it was reported in the year 2000 that “like any character with a distinct personality, Argo was created to be a major part of the overall concept and look of Xena. A character was created, then an animal was found to match the look.”

Tilly’s (Argo) popularity from the show peaked in 1999 when she was selected to be a Breyer model toy horse. In 2021, these type of model horses are still handcrafted and hand-painted with airbrushes and paintbrushes – a process which is done by human hands; machines are not used. No two Breyer models are ever exactly alike.
