Thunderbirds was a 1975 UK TV series created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson using "Supermarionation" , puppetry, for the cast; it followed the successful "Stingray" series and ran for 2 seasons, 2 feature films, a 2004 live action film directed by Jonathan Frames and an animated series.
The series was based around an International Rescue organisation founded by billionaire ex-astronaut Jeff Tracy using vehicles piloted by his sons;
Thunderbird 1: a blue and silver VTOL rocket ship used for reconnaissance and fast response. Launched from beneath a retractable swimming pool. Piloted by Scott Tracy
Thunderbird 2: a green VTOL capable heavy lift craft with a supersonic top speed. It carries a variety of unique rescue craft carried in pods. Launched from a concealed cave and rocket ramp. Piloted by Virgil Tracy.
Thunderbird 3: a red single stage rocket powered space ship used to ferry pilots to Thunderbird 5 and for space rescues. Launched through the centre of a roundhouse. Piloted by either Alan or John Tracy.
Thunderbird 4: a bright yellow utility submarine used for all things aquatic. Carried by Thunderbird 2 in pod number 4. Piloted by Gordon Tracy.
Thunderbird 5: a multi coloured space station used to monitor for distress calls. Piloted by either John or Alan Tracy.
F.A.B. 1: a pink, 6 wheeled Rolls Royce, armed with cannon and rockets and capable of use on the surface of seas and lakes using hydrophones. Driven by Parker, chauffeur to Lady Penelope.
