Stephenie Meyer is an American novelist from Hartford, Connecticut. She attended Brigham Young University and acquired a degree in English in 1997. Having no prior experience as an author, she conceived the idea for the "Twilight series" in a dream and wrote it soon thereafter. After many rejections, "Little, Brown and Company" offered her a $750,000 three-book deal which led to a four-book series, several spin-off novels and novellas, and a series of commercially successful film adaptations.

"Twilight" tells the story of a seventeen-year-old Bella Swan, who falls in love with Edward Cullen; a 103-year-old vampire frozen in his 17-year-old body. The book received only lukewarm reviews at first, but within a month of its release, it hit "The New York Times Bestseller List" and eventually reached its first place.

The book's film adaptation in 2008 caused it to become the biggest selling piece of literature in the world. In 2009, it was the second biggest selling, losing only to its own sequel, "New Moon".

Stephenie's other works include:

"The Host"; a sci-fi romance novel about a parasitic alien race that has invaded Earth and "The Chemist"; a thriller novel about an ex-agent on the run from her former employers.
