In which country is Lake Chapala located?

Lake Chapala: It is the largest natural lake in Mexico. It is located in the western region of Mexico, between the states of Jalisco and Michoacán at 1,524 metres (5000 feet) above sea level. And is fed mainly by the Lerma River. The surface of the lake is 1,100 km² (420 sq mi). It is 80 km (50 mi) long and 18 km (11 mi) wide, with a maximum depth of 10.5 meters (34 ft) and an average of 7.0 meters (23 ft).

Lake Chapala is part of a larger basin formed by the Lerma River 560 Km (350 mi) - Lake Chapala - Santiago River 443 Km (277 mi). The lake received contributions in 50% of the waters of the Lerma. Now they only represent 10%.

Its greatest capacity reaches 8.1 Km³ (1,9 cu mi) of water, but at critical moments, it has reduced its volume to 1.6 Km³ (0.38 cu mi). According to data from the National Water Commission (CNA) in 1998 it was at 33% of its capacity.
