In which country is the headquarters of the Vodafone company located?
Vodafone Group Plc is a British multinational telecommunications company. Its registered office and global headquarters are in Newbury, Berkshire, England. It originated as part of Racal Electronics Ltd., a British radar and electronics firm founded in 1950.
Racal founded its Vodafone subsidiary in 1983 and won the license to build Britain’s first cellular telephone network, which was launched in 1985. Racal soon developed allied divisions, including Vodac, Vodata, and Vodapage, to expand the number and type of services the company offered.
Vodafone had been involved as well in a number of other specialized applications of its capabilities. "SafeLink," introduced in 1992 in conjunction with the West Yorkshire Police, gave individuals fast access to the police via the Vodafone network.
The "Callsafe" service, developed the same year, allowed stranded motorists to contact the Automobile Association. In 1993 it provided the emergency mobile phone service to environmental rescue workers.
The company pioneered information services for users such as the Automobile Association's "Roadwatch" and the Financial Times' "CityLine." "Recall," the world's largest voice messaging service, was introduced in 1992.
"Vodastream" fax allowed customers access to up-to-date macroeconomic statistics compiled by the Central Statistical Office, and "Vodafax Broadcast" allowed the facsimile transmission of information to several different destinations simultaneously.
