Jason Statham was born on 26 July 1967 in Shirebrook, Derbyshire, the son of dancer Eileen and street seller Barry Statham. He moved to Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, where he initially chose not to follow his father's career working the local market stalls, instead practising martial arts.
"The Transporter" is a 2002 action-thriller film directed by Corey Yuen and Louis Leterrier and written by Luc Besson. The film stars Jason Statham as Frank Martin, a driver for hire—a mercenary "transporter" who will deliver anything, anywhere, no questions asked—for the right price. It also stars Shu Qi as Lai Kwai.
Frank is hired to deliver a package of 50 kilograms (110 lb) to an American, Darren "Wall Street" Bettencourt. The package is loaded into Frank's trunk. While changing a flat tire, Frank notices the package moving he discovers a woman, tied up and gagged. She attempts to escape but Frank recaptures her and returns her to the trunk. Frank delivers the package to Wall Street as promised and agrees to another job, transporting a briefcase. As Frank stops to buy drinks for the cops, in his trunk, a bomb hidden in the briefcase.
Statham starred the "Transporter" trilogy (2002–2008). After starring in a variety of heist and action-thriller films such as "The Italian Job" (2003), "Crank" (2006), "The Bank Job" (2008), "The Mechanic" (2011), "Spy" (2015), "Mechanic: Resurrection" (2016), "The Expendables" (2010–2014) and the "Fast & Furious" franchise.
