The singer, Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, better known as Sting made his acting debut in the film "Quadrophenia" (1979). He had the role in he film where he was known as 'The Ace Face', 'the King of the Mods', and a.k.a. 'the Bell Boy'. This film was the adaptation of the smash-hit album by the English rock band 'The Who', formed in 1964.

The movie "Quadrophenia" has a story that follows the music of 'The Who' from their double album (Quadrophenia) and is about Jimmy, a 1960’s English youth. It looks at his place in the "Mod" scene. The Mods were individuals who were characterized as working-class youth, and they were modestly affluent during the post-war economic boom. Their prosperity allowed them to explore fashion and enjoy the freedom of personal cars for fun transportation. By lashing out against his dead-end life, alienated youth Jimmy hangs out with his gang of Mods, does drugs, and battles members of a rival gang called the Rockers. This is a rock opera film where Sting is fashionably cool in his debut and the ending seems to send an overall positive message about young people.
