'Merry Xmas Everybody' is a single by British rock band Slade, released in 1973. It reached the number 1 slot in the UK Singles Charts during December 1973, making it the UK Christmas number 1. It remained in the top slot for nine weeks. It was Slade's sixth and final chart topping single.

The song was written by Noddy Holder (born 1946), the lead singer of the band, and the bassist Jim Lea (born 1949). Within the first week of its release, the single sold 500,000 copies. By 2012, it had sold 1.32 million copies within the UK. Every Christmas, the song reappears on radio programmes, and in 2012 it was voted 3rd on the television show, 'The Nation's Favourite Christmas Song'.

As well as its well-known, repetitive tune, 'Merry Xmas Everybody' famously features the line "IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!!", screamed by Noddy Holder. Holder jokingly referred to the song as his pension scheme due to the royalties it generated. In 2015 it was generating an estimated £500,000 a year.

Slade identifies as an English Glam rock band because they perform wearing outrageous costumes, such as platform shoes, lots of makeup, and eccentric hairstyles, often featuring a lot of glitter. They formed in 1966 and reached their peak in the 1970s. The band was comprised of the vocalist Holder, Dave Hill on guitar, Lea on bass guitar and Don Powell on drums.
