The Ford Model T was successful providing inexpensive transportation and signified innovation for the rising middle class. It became a powerful symbol of America's age of modernization. The first production Model T had left the factory on September 27,1908 at Ford Piquette Avenue Plant in Detroit, Michigan.

The Model T was designed by Childe Harold Wills, and Hungarian immigrants Joseph A. Galamb and Eugene Farkas. It had a front-mounted 177-cubic-inch (2.9 L) in line four-cylinder engine, producing 20 hp (15 KW), for top speed of 40-45 mph (64-72 Km/h).

The engine was capable of running on gasoline, kerosene, or ethanol. The Model T was rear-wheel drive vehicle. In today's terms it would be considered a two-speed, beacause one of the three was reverse. In current equivalent dollars, the cost of the Runabout started at $ 23,005 in 1909 and bottomed out at $ 3,714 in 1925.

The Ford Model T was named the most influential car of 20th century in the 1999 Car of the Century competition, ahead of the BM Mini, Citrogen Ds, and Volkswagen type1.
