Nominated for eleven Oscars, The Godfather Part II won six Oscars: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor (Robert DeNiro as the young Don Corleone), Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Art Direction and Best Score.

The movie, The Godfather, received eleven Academy Awards nominations. It was the winner of only 3 Oscars: Best Picture, Best Actor (Marlon Brando), and Best Adapted Screenplay. The original received fewer awards than the sequel.

The Godfather was supposed to be a quicky low-budget gangster film set in Kansas City. There is a small, gated cluster of houses in Kansas City, Kansas that was supposed to serve as the Corleone Family compound. Glad they went ahead and did it right.

kayefloyd, No. Joe Pesci was not in The Godfather Part 2. Joe was in Goodfellas, however. Al Pacino played the young Don, Michael Corleone, not Robert De Niro. De Niro played Vito Corleone, Michael's father. Al was nominated for an Academy award for best actor, which he did not win. He did win a BAFTA award for Best Actor in the role of Michael Corleone.
