"Jingle Bells" was originally written for which holiday?
This classic song is always sung at Christmas time. Actually, it didn’t start out that way.
The song was written to be sung on Thanksgiving Day and its original title was "One Horse Open Sleigh".
It was written in 1857.
I had a very strict music teacher in elementary school who insisted Jingle Bells and a few other songs were not holiday songs at all, but rather "winter songs." She was, in fact, so strict ( read mean) none of us liked her and we didn't learn much music, if any, from her.

Kerem Oner, Try Google or Wikipedia. They are always right on. When curious or incorrect, I always look it up. Helps to remember Trivia.

Larry Jones, Deja Vu. We had Mrs. Berliner. Nasty, short tempered & always had her "demerit' book" in hand.

Snopes disagrees but then again Snopes is an often wrong 'fact' checking site I would not believe if my life depended on it!
