Mother pandas only care for one of their cubs, and allow the others to die.

Was happier not knowing this fact! Sorry if you think this is a wrong attitude but it is my true feeling.

I knew this one, and I am grateful my mother was not a Panda mom even though I had only one child.

It is not that mummy panda thinks "I can't manage 2 kids". Rather, it is necessary for survival, as they don't have sufficient milk or energy to care for two so focus their attentions on the stronger cub.

janellebiggs, I remember many years ago in the NT (Australia) the local hospital went to great lengths to prevent a woman from killing one of her twins due to tribal beliefs.

I understand why panads do this but it still seems barbaric.

Chrissie, Goosenbuster wasn't telling anyone how to feel, that person was stating a fact, 'that nature does not run on feelings'. Don't get your knickers in a twist about it. Too many people are becoming overly sensitive with everything, and with comments in particular.

Annie, you must not expect an animal to behave with a human's conviction. She behaves by her own rules. The drive for her would be self preservation and preservation of her species.
