On which island was Napoleon born?

Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821), also known as Napoleon I, was a well-known French military leader and the first French emperor. He was born on the island of Corsica.

Napoleon rapidly rose through the ranks of the military during the French Revolution (1789-1799). First he seized political power in France in a 1799 coup d’état and later, in 1804, became a self-proclaimed emperor. Napoleon possessed some kind of a military talent, so he really managed to change the world and the course of history. He conquered a large part of Europe and then was exiled to the island of Elba. Several years later he returned, but was exiled again to the island of Saint Helena to die there in 1821 at the age of 51.

About the emperor's height:The rumor about Napoleon’s height was widespread during his lifetime. English propagandists depicted the general as comically diminutive in critical cartoons of the period of the Napoleonic Wars. Later even a psychological complex specific to short men was named after him.

But Napoleon was actually around five-foot-six tall! Nowadays it's considered a short stature for a man, but it was just about average for his era.
