Robert Gabriel Mugabe was the first post colonial President of which country?
In late 1987, Zimbabwe's parliament amended the constitution. On 30 December it declared Mugabe to be executive President, a new position that combined the roles of head of state, head of government, and commander-in-chief of the armed forces. This position gave him the power to dissolve parliament, declare martial law, and run for an unlimited number of terms. According to Meredith, Mugabe now had "a virtual stranglehold on government machinery and unlimited opportunities to exercise patronage". The constitutional amendments also abolished the twenty parliamentary seats reserved for white representatives, and left parliament less relevant and independence.

nickdarcy, Yes, Banana was the first president of Zimbabwe, but the first post-colonial president of the la nd that became Zimbabwe was Clifford Walter Dupont. He held the ceremonial title of president after the country severed ties with the colonial power. Neither Dupont nor Banana held real power.

He was the President of Zimbabwe from 1987 to 2017. Before that, he was Prime Minister, the head of government, after being elected in 1980. Many years before he resigned, Mugabe ruled his country in the style of a dictator.
On November 15, 2017, he was placed under house arrest as Zimbabwe's military took control in a coup. On November 21, 2017, Mugabe resigned as President of Zimbabwe. It ended his rule of 37 years.
