Stars of the 1973 film "The Sting" include Robert Redford and Paul Newman. This is a film which resulted in the two men working very successful together. They are considered one of the all-time great screen pairings after buddying up for two movie classics, "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" (1969) and "The Sting".

"The Sting" is an American film which was set in September 1936, involving a complicated plot by two professional grifters (Paul Newman and Robert Redford) to con a mob boss (Robert Shaw). The film was directed by George Roy Hill, who had directed Newman and Redford in the western "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". Created by screenwriter David S. Ward, the story was inspired by real-life cons perpetrated by brothers Fred and Charley Gondorff.

"The Sting" was produced by Tony Bill, Michael Phillips, and Julia Phillips. It was distributed for public release in December 1973 by Universal Pictures.
