Terence Blanchard didn't write the music score for the 2017 film "Get Out". Michael Abels, an American composer and arranger who specializes in concert orchestral music, with elements of blues, jazz, and bluegrass music composed this film's musical score. Blanchard was responsible for the music used in "Jungle Fever" (1991), an American romantic drama film written, produced and directed by Spike Lee, "Malcolm X" (1992), an epic biographical drama film directed and co-written by Spike Lee about the African-American activist Malcolm X, and "Inside Man" (2006), an American heist thriller directed by Spike Lee and written by Russell Gewirtz.

"Get Out", a movie that follows Chris Washington (Daniel Kaluuya), is about a young black man who uncovers shocking secrets when he meets the family of his white girlfriend, Rose Armitage (Allison Williams). The film is directed by Jordan Peele and produced by Sean McKittrick, Jason Blum, Edward H. Hamm Jr., and Peele. It's stars, along with Kaluuya and Williams, include Bradley Whitford, Caleb Landry Jones, Stephen Root, and Catherine Keener. Cinematography was handled by Toby Oliver, editing by Gregory Plotkin, and production by Blumhouse Productions, QC Entertainment, and Monkeypaw Productions. Universal Pictures managed distribution.

The critical response called it brilliantly effective and entertaining. At the box office, it became a monster success. On a budget of $4.5 million US dollars, it grossed $255.4 million worldwide.
