Mos Eisley is a spaceport town in the fictional Star Wars universe. It is located on the planet Tatooine, and it first appeared in the 1977 film "Star Wars". It was described by the character Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness) as a "wretched hive of scum and villainy". Mos Eisley is clearly a very very busy place, a bustling port city situated in a desert plain with transients of all species. The lawless spaceport is well known for attracting criminals, smugglers, and fugitives. Spacecraft are always seen landing at docking bays located all across the city.

A notable scene in the film is set in the seedy Mos Eisley cantina. The place is crowded with numerous alien races. This is a scene that had a particular and strong impact on most movie audiences. Location filming for the spaceport took place from 1975–76 in Tunisia, the northernmost country in Africa. Interiors shots were filmed at Elstree Studios near London, England.
