The land area of the United Kingdom is about the same as the land area of which one of these four US states?
The question is about *land* area of states and *land* area of the UK: we're not counting, lakes, sea areas and so on. The land area of the UK is 93,410 sq mi; the land area of Oregon is just 2.8% greater at 95,988 sq mi. By contrast Colorado is 11% larger (103,642 sq mi) and Utah is 12 percent smaller (82,170 sq mi). Montana is much larger (147,040 sq mi).

If you must use square miles as a measure, then please add in sq km. More than 90% of the world use the metric system!

I use a MAJORITY VOTE and it shows Montana as the correct answer; but then you show the correct answer to be Oregon. This is messed up.

Myrna Olson, I'm one of those who is old enough...although I can drive in km I still tend to use pounds, ounces, cups, and teaspoons...I was an adult when Canada changed to the metric system and I envy those who didn't have the confusion of learning two systems.

I take it that the land area of UK referred to here, is the combined land area of the 4 countries making up the UK- England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Almost went with Oregon, the state I live in, but went with Montana, the largest. We have about 4 million in Oregon, whereas the UK packs in 67 million in territory of similar size.

Bob Fowler, it depends on what you call tiny. Five and a half yards equal one perch in UK, USA, Myanmar, Liberia and a few other places that are indisputably tiny such as St. Helena and the Cayman Islands. The rest of the world has moved on.

Short of a guess (and unless you live in the U.S) who would be able to estimate the area of these states other than looking them up. Confusing even more is the use of sq mi. !
