The Carolina Panthers are an American professional gridiron football team based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Panthers play in the National Football Conference (NFC) of the National Football League (NFL) and have won two conference championships (2003 and 2015).

The Panthers played their first game in 1995 when they joined the Jacksonville Jaguars as the NFL’s first expansion teams since 1976. Carolina became the most successful expansion franchise in league history when it won 7 of its 16 games in its inaugural season.

Although the Panthers have played their home games in Charlotte since 1996, they played their home games at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina during its first season and are supported throughout the Carolinas. The team hosts its annual training camp at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Along with the New England Patriots, it is one of only two teams to represent multiple states.
