The quote "Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference" has been attributed to Winston Churchill, the well known politician who was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945, during the Second World War, and again from 1951 to 1955.

As a leader of the British people, Churchill embodied the ethos of determination and grit. Lee Pollock, who served as executive director of the International Churchill Society, told the British newspapers, “You’ll never find a Churchill quote that says, ‘I give up easily,’ because he was the opposite. Churchill was an optimist."

A positive mindset was Churchill’s "stock in trade". But there is no definitive evidence he ever called attitude a “little thing that makes a big difference”.

Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill (1874-1965), the son of Lord Randolph Churchill and his American wife Jennie Jerome, was educated at Harrow and Sandhurst. After a brief and eventful career in the British army, he became a Conservative Member of Parliament in 1900. During the first three decades of the century, he held many high posts in both Liberal and Conservative governments. In May 1940, he became Prime Minister and Minister of Defense. He remained in office until 1945. It was thought that his leadership caused Hitler to be defected during WWII. He lost the 1945 election, but regained his position as Prime Minister in 1951.

On January 24, 1965, Churchill died in West Kensington, London, England. He was 90 years old.
