True or false: The Goldbergs was the first sitcom on American television

The show was created by Gertrude Berg in 1928. She was the original writer and actress of a long-running hit. Actually, she was one of the first women to create, produce and star in a sitcom. It was a domestic comedy featuring the life of an ordinary Jewish family. Berg starred as a main character - a somewhat stereotypical Jewish matriarch. It is an interesting fact that Berg worked on television scripts by hand, even though she had a typewriter.
