Luxembourg is a micro-state, which is located in Europe and bordered by Germany, Belgium and France. Despite the small size of the country, it remains one of the influential members of the European Union and a popular place for tourists. All the visitors and newcomers from Europe can easily communicate there, as several languages are spoken by the residents of the country.

Three languages are recognized as official in Luxembourg: French, German, and Luxembourgish. Although Luxembourgish belongs to the West Central German group of High German languages, more than 5,000 words in the language are of French origin. Originally, the language appeared as a German dialect, but now it is recognized as a different language due to its official use in the country.
