The Akhal-Teke is one of the oldest and the most unusual and distinctive horse in the world. It is bred around the Turkmenistan Desert oases which is north of Iran. These horses have been bred and raced in this area for around 3,000 years. Their long lean bodies and thin skin have attributed to their endurance and heat resistance to the desert life. The Alhal-Teke's coat is found in various colors but the most noted and striking is the dun color which gives off a "metalilic" sheen when exposed to sunlight.
