What company produces the chocolate candy known as Kisses?
The iconic Hershey's Kisses chocolates were first introduced in 1907 by the Hershey Company. Their name is said to come from the sound the machines made when dropping chocolate onto the conveyor belt, resembling a quick "kiss" sound.
Initially, each Kiss was individually wrapped by hand in silver foil, but now machines handle the wrapping, making production much faster and more efficient. Today, the Hershey Company manufactures over 70 million Kisses daily, making them one of the most recognizable candies worldwide.
Interestingly, Hershey's Kisses briefly stopped production from 1942 to 1947 due to aluminum foil shortages during World War II. After the war, production resumed, and the chocolate candies quickly regained popularity, becoming a staple treat especially around Valentine's Day and holidays.
