What cord connects a fetus with the placenta?
In placental mammals, the umbilical cord is a conduit between the developing embryo or fetus and the placenta. During prenatal development, the umbilical cord is physiologically and genetically part of the fetus and (in humans) normally contains two arteries (the umbilical arteries) and one vein (the umbilical vein), buried within Wharton's jelly.
The umbilical vein supplies the fetus with oxygenated, nutrient-rich blood from the placenta. Conversely, the fetal heart pumps low oxygen-containing blood, nutrient-depleted blood through the umbilical arteries back to the placenta.

This is supposed to be a fun quizz game, so what if a member posts an easy question! Think you can do any better, then please try to submit some questions of your own and please stop criticizing other submissions.
You can always just skip any question that you do not care about. I give credit to any person trying to submit a question that is fun and interesting and does not always require me to pull out my Encyclopedia Brittanica!
