I have done the homework, on how people who were prisoners against their own will, suffered at the hands, of their worst own enemy. Texas was simply stolen/taken over, same thing, from Mexico. As was NM, CA, CO & AZ. The Native Americans, stolen from before that, at least got along some with the Mexicans. Many were Meztizos, a mix of Indian & Spanish.
