Which of the following countries is located in two continents?
Istanbul is a large city within the boundary of Turkey. However, the Bosphorus Strait divides the city into two parts, one of which is located in Asia, another being a part of Europe. That means that both the country and its main cultural center occupy two continents.
Istanbul is typically considered a European city. The two sides of the city differ from each other: the European part is usually busy, as more business organizations are located there, and the Asian side is calmer and quieter, with a lot of parks, squares and alleys.

The question asked "which of the following countries" and only one on the list is correct. I am not sure why people are confused.

The original name of Istanbul was not "Constantinope". Although the city has had many names through the centuries, its original name was Lygos, probably a Thracian word, and then Byzantium when it became a Greek trading town.
The Roman Emperor Septimus Severus renamed it Augusta Antonia after his son Antonius.
The Emperor Constantine established it as his new capital in the east of the Roman Empire and called it Nova Roma (New Rome) and Roma Constantinopolitana, though it was generally called Constantinopolis (the City of Constantine) after his death.
Over the centuries the city had a range of nicknames, the most common being simply hē Polis or "the City". Swedish Vikings who served there in the Byzantine emperors' Varangian Guard called it Miklagarðr or Miklagard meaning "the big city" in Old Norse. People both in the city and in the surrounding region referred to anything within its old walls as "εις την Πόλιν" (eis tin polin) or simply "in the city" and this phrase became "Istanbul" in Armenian and later in Turkish.
After the city fell to the Turks in 1453 it was still called Contantinople which became Kostantiniyye in Turkish and al-Qusṭanṭiniyah in Arabic, though in some contexts and titles the Turkish administration also referred to it as İstanbul from the Greek phrase "in the city".
The new Turkish Republic was keen to standardize things, so from 1923 only İstanbul was used and all forms of the older name and nicknames were dropped.
By the way, your phrase, "their own selves", is very bad grammar. The word you're looking for is "themselves".

The question doesn't imply the answer is the only country, just which of the ones listed is part of two continents.

The question is not ambiguous in the slightest. It is crystal clear. It says “which OF THE FOLLOWING COUNTRIES is located in two continents?” Panama is not on the list and neither is Russia. Therefore they are both wrong answers.

The question doesn’t ask, “Which is the only country located in two continents? It asks which country from the following choices. Russia and Panama were not listed as a possible answer. Lol

Sultana Frazis, Constantinople wasn't sacrificed. It withstood assaults by the Ottomans for many years. It finally succumbed in 1453 after a siege. The Ottomans entered Europe and attempted to continue their conquest until they were defeated at The Battle of Vienna in 1683. They were pushed out of Europe except for the toehold around Constantinople/Istanbul only in the early 20th century when the Balkan nations finally cast off the Ottoman yoke. Hundred of thousands, if not millions died during this time. Nothing was sacrificed.
