When did Hurricane Katrina make landfall in southeast Louisiana?

The Hurricane Katrina was born in the Bahamas, when a tropical wave interacted with the remnants of Tropical Depression Ten. It began on 23rd of August, being intensified by the new depression the next day. The cyclone moved toward Florida, where it grew into a hurricane. It also caused the storm 6 meters high.

Several hours later it made landfall in Hallandale Beach and Aventura on the 25th of August. This hurricane became the largest and 3rd strongest hurricane ever recorded to make landfall in the US. It has left more than 1,8 thousand people dead. Most of the victims were, unfortunately, senior residents. A lot of work was done after the hurricane to educate people and help them get ready for the next hurricane season.
