What do the letters "BBC" stand for?
The letters BBC stand for the British Broadcasting Corporation. It's the public service broadcaster of the United Kingdom and probably the best known non-profit radio and television organization in the world. BBC gets money from a licence fee and program sales.
BBC was formed under a Royal Charter in 1927. The original aim of the organization was to "educate and enlighten the citizens", and it remains the same nowadays. BBC programs and TV-shows are known and loved worldwide (Doctor Who, Top Gear, QI, etc.).
