Embracery is an attempt to influence (corrupt) a jury. A person trying to corrupt a jury may do by the means of bribery, promises, persuasions and threats. It is officially considered a state and federal crime. Embraceors can find themselves in serious troubles, from paying a fine to imprisonment. Sometimes both punishments are practiced.

The accused person should have the intention to commit the crime. The intention to influence a juror should combine with the attempt to influence the juror. The words to influence a juror need only be communicated to the juror. It is not necessary that the words should be spoken directly by the embraceor.
