What does the picture symbolize?
Communist symbolism represents a variety of themes, including revolution, the proletariat, peasantry, agriculture, or international solidarity. The hammer stands for the industrial working class and the sickle represents the agricultural workers, therefore together they represent the unity of the two groups.
The hammer and sickle were first used during the 1917 Russian Revolution, but it did not become the official symbol of the Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic until 1924. Since the Russian Revolution, the hammer and sickle have come to represent various communist parties and communist states.

L Lh Adams, in 17th century North America and Europe the word "witch" was enough to destroy innocent people. In 20th and 21st century America another word serves the same purpose. Incidentally, for the benefit of the semi-literate the word is communist, not commie.
