What famous architect designed the glass pyramid in front of the Louvre Museum in Paris?

The reasons for the erection of the glass pyramid were purely practical, there were problems with the original entry's capacity. The plan of the talented architect presupposed a creation of such a construction that would make the process of distribution of the visiters from the central lobby to various destinations of the museum easier and more comfortable.
