When a woman earns the title of queen by marrying a king, she is called a queen consort. Usually a queen consort has no official political power and can't hold throne after her husband's death. Anyway, she can act as a regent of the kingdom until her children are old enough to rule the country. When a man marries a queen, he is respectively called a king consort.
