Wort is actually the liquid on which such alcoholic drinks as beer and whiskey are based. It is extracted during the mashing process and contains the sugars to be fermented by yeast to make alcoholic drinks.

After extracting, the wort is usually boiled and bittering, flavors and aroma from hops are added (in case of beer-making). The process of adding consists of three steps: bittering before boiling, flavor 15 minutes before the end and aroma in the end. When all the parts are added, the wort is ready to be cooled for the fermentation process (with yeast).
