Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. (10/20/1971 Long Beach, California), known professionally as Snoop Dogg and known briefly as Snoop Lion, is an American rapper, songwriter, media personality, actor, and entrepreneur.

His fame dates back to 1992 when he was featured on Dr. Dre's (Andre Console Young 2/18/1965) debut solo single, "Deep Cover" (also known as "187"), and then on Dr. Dre's solo album, "The Chronic".

Broadus has since sold over 23 million albums in the U.S. and 35 million worldwide.

Dogg's genres include hip hop, funk, gangsta rap and reggae. His associated acts include 213, Dr. Dre, Tha Dogg Pound and Willy Nelson amongst others.

Broadus' debut album, "Doggystyle", produced by Dr. Dre, was released by Death Row Records in November 1993, debuted at number one on the popular albums chart, 'Billboard' 200, and on 'Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Selling 800,000 copies in its first week, "Doggystyle" was certified quadruple-platinum in 1994 and bore several hit singles, including "What's My Name?" and "Gin and Juice"

Snoop married his high school sweetheart in 1997. The couple have three children.

Snoop Dogg advocates for the defunding of police departments, saying "We need to start taking that money out of their pockets and put in into our communities where we can police ourselves." In 2020 he endorsed Joe Biden for president of the U.S.
